Picturesque fizzsprings resort7/17/2023 ![]() And if this comes from the owner/manager of the establishment, well then. The older couple who were sitting behind us also kicked an absolute fuss about the service and quality of their food which was returned. Then our table was close to their bathroom and towards the end of our meal, thank God, a smell seemed to emanate from there. I give one star because our food was satisfactory, but sadly because of everything else, it is unlikely we will return. Just got back from a golf weekend with 8 friends and overall had a great time.īreakfast was decent, dinner was a little bland in taste (we had the full range of main courses and everyone has similar comments) and service at the bar was very good, the staff there are a credit. Rooms were well furnished, clean and very comfortable. The golf course was in good condition considering recent rain and the amount of traffic. ![]() I've read similar reviews about how long the rounds can take and we has similar experience. 8 minute tee times are just too short, you end up with 3 groups on every holes. ![]() It makes it a little tedious at times especially when groups start looking for balls and then the course just backs up. There should never been a case of 3 groups waiting on a tee box. Only other slight negative is that considering how good the practice facilities are, it really does miss out on have a fully working driving range. ![]() Rather than an small area you take your own balls. I'd definitely stay here again as the area is beautiful. Magnificent setting for this hotel and golf hotel in something of an out of the way location, not easy to find without a satnav. I’ve stayed hear several times for training conferences. The menu is fairly basic and the food is just okay, passable but not special. I’ve not sampled the spa yet but I understand that it is well rated. My most recent visit in May 2022- I had a lovely room overlooking one of the golf courses and the lake. The room was well maintained and very comfortable. The only downside was that the walls and floors seem somewhat thin. I was disturbed whilst relaxing from my long drive early evening (before dinner) by what sounded to me like a heavy trolley being repeatedly trundled across a tiled floor. It was very loud and the vibrations shook the room and went on a long time. The Canadian geese that patrol the greens below the hotel can be pretty noisy too, especially if you leave the windows open at night, but I didn’t might a bit of wildlife honking in exchange for a great view! It turned out to be staff setting up the conference rooms on the floor below! Thankfully, it soon stopped when I complained and did not continue during the night. #PICTURESQUE FIZZ SPRINGS RESORT WINDOWS# It wasn’t clear whether the outdoor seating on the terrace overlooking the lake was open to guests not attending conferences - as it was difficult to find or access without going via the conferring suite. The outdoor furniture was rather tatty with peeling varnish on the tables and chairs. There’s certainly plenty of comfortable indoor seating in a few different areas. Having taken a stroll around the grounds in late afternoon sunshine, I felt it would be good if there were more benches to sit on overlooking the lake and valley. I felt as if I would be in the way of the golfers when walking so didn’t linger. There was a solitary bench I saw but it was in the shade under a tree. Would I come again? Yes, I would certainly recommend it for conferences - provided one is not travelling by public transport. I’m not sure I would choose to stay here just for leisure but then I didn’t sample the spa facilities, which is one of the hotel’s main claims to fame. We stayed here during a week’s holiday in Oxford. It wasn’t cheap, so had high expectations, sadly these weren’t met. #PICTURESQUE FIZZ SPRINGS RESORT WINDOWS#.
